Workshop Description
Salsa is organizing a 1.5 day workshop to discuss the ways in which security can be extended
to address the upcoming needs of advanced application and network users. The workshop will focus on
current activities inside of Salsa, specifically the new NetArch and NetAuth working groups, how to
leverage middleware to support security, and the evolution of the Security at Line Speed report.
This security workshop will be held following the Joint Techs Workshop,
21-22 July 2004, in Columbus, OH. We hope that the congruence of the meetings will encourage individuals
to attend both meetings, acknowledging the close working relationship that network management and network
security should have. [Please note that the Joint Techs Workshop requires
separate
registration.]
Registration for the 2004 Summer
Salsa Security Workshop is now available. Please note that there will be a $150 registration fee. Hotel
information is available here.

Two general focus areas for the summer 2004 meeting will be implications for our respective network
architectures created by the coming revolution in optical (switched) networking, and the related issue of
the implications created by National Lambda Rail and other local, regional, or extra-regional user-owned
networks. The Wednesday morning plenary will be focused on security as Salsa will be holding a meeting
starting after lunch.
