*New Action Items*
[AI] {Mark P.} will contact new volunteers to add them to the SALSA advisory group.
[AI] {Everyone} should give some thought to the suggested S@LS follow-up workshop (i.e., focus
and tentative date/location: Feb. 2005/Boston area).
*Carryover Action Items*
[AI] {Mark, Chris C., Chris M., Rodney, Ken, and Charles} will revisit spyware/botnets materials/ideas.
----------------------------------------------
1. S@LS Follow-Up
Based on mail from Jeff, Terry and Jim were discussing next steps for S@LS. (There are some
side messages following this up and the conversation will probably come back to this group
later.) One focus of a follow-up workshop is the future thing, as carried by Jim, Terry, and
Jeff. If there are items that you'd like to see addressed, please send a note to the list.
Suggested timeframe and location for the follow-up S@LS workshop: February 2005 in the Boston area.
Although there is currently no plan for another SALSA face-to-face meeting, the group agreed
that it sounds like a good idea to meet at the S@LS workshop.
Note: The next ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs Workshop will take place 13-17 Feb in Salt Lake City, UT.
Charles will probably present a short session at Joint Techs, if necessary. However, there will not
be a SALSA meeting at JT in Salt Lake City.
----------------------------------------------
2. NetAuth Status
Things have been moving forward with the NetAuth WG. An email update was sent to the list.
----------------------------------------------
3. Netc Status
There are a few names that Marty needs to track down, and then he'll follow-up with them about
joining the Netc WG.
----------------------------------------------
4. CALEA
At some point, there may be a request or question related to CALEA that comes to this group, which
we would then need to deal with. There would be some power in submitting a unified front on behalf
of the higher education community. Marty spoke with Mike Roberts about SALSA working with the Task
Force to put forth a unified .edu front in response to CALEA. EDUCAUSE has been trying to get a
coherent .edu response, although it's been a difficult task.
----------------------------------------------
5. Volunteers
Names for consideration include: Kevin Miller (Duke); Tom Zeller (Indiana); and Deke Kassabian (Penn).
Since there was no dissent from the group, Mark will contact each of them prior to adding them to the
SALSA advisory group.
----------------------------------------------
6. Tabled Items for the Next Call
