*Discussion*
Salsa welcomes Michael Van Norman - UCLA.
- Disaster Planning WG formation
First meeting will be at the upcoming I2MM. Don MacLeod, Cornell, will chair. There has been interest by some Internet2 corporate members in this as well.
Brokering services between organizations is likely to be a primary focus.
- FWNA/NetAuth
There has been a good thread on the TF-Mobility list about NEA and Eduroam, including machine posture and user AuthN. NEA is mainly focused on the supplicant and posture (i.e. machine state in terms of patches, viruses etc.) issues in the local environment -- not really looking at AuthN. Several WG members are participating in this discussion and there is good synergy.
What if any effect would an NEA-like client assessment have on the ability to federate access? NEA is not really looking at federation or multi-site issues.
If a campus has deployed NEA-type capabilities on its main wireless network, what are the implications for visitors?
The FWNA survey has gotten 85 responses so far, including several international. Intent is to close it 23-March, and anonymized results and analysis will be presented at the I2MM.
- CSI2
The CSI2 workshop earlier this month in Cambridge MA went well, a report will be forthcoming. RENOIR development is moving forward steadily. There is recent activity in IODEF, which will feed this effort well. More to come on this as it develops.
- REN-ISAC Member Meeting
Scheduled after Security Professionals Conf. in Denver has reached capacity. -
Security Professionals Conference
http://www.educause.edu/sec07
will have record attendance and number of sessions this year.
- Spring I2MM
http://events.internet2.edu/2007/spring-mm/
Security Schedule will go out to this list in advance of the meeting, as in the past. There are several related sessions planned.
- NIST PKI Workshop in April
http://middleware.internet2.edu/pki07/ Note that 800-63 is being updated
- Security Wiki coming soon
Joe will be the leader of a wiki space called the Security Weir, intended to capture community knowledge and best practices in a variety of security topics. First topics will be DNSSEC and open source security tools.
Since many good related discussions are happening on e-mail lists which don't lend themselves to threaded discourse and harvesting, the goal is to hold these conversations with more structure to better serve the community.
Potential drawbacks noted are the requirement to be online to contribute, and the pull v. push aspects in e-mail. While wikis include the ability to set "watches" to receive e-mail or RSS notifications, this is still a significant modality shift for many users.
- REN-ISAC will be making an announcement soon about a partnership with a major vendor. More on this as it becomes available.
