*Discussion*
Guest Access Survey
{Mark} has drafted a set of 34 questions for the guest access survey, which can be found at <https://wiki.internet2.edu:443/confluence/x/YCc>. The Group discussed several items concerning the survey itself:
Q: Is 34 questions too many?
A: If yes/no questions, it may not be an overwhelming number of questions.
Q: Should terms like ‘guest’ and ‘open’, etc. be clarified with definitions at the start of the survey?
A: Group will consider this.
Q: Would ‘anonymity’ of the survey increase participation or increase confusion (i.e., might have
8-9 responses from same campus, without their knowing)
A: Group will try to find a balance between preserving anonymity and maintaining a secure survey
(i.e., no false –or redundant– parties adding irrelevant input that could skew results). Another
identifying question might be to ask about the size of their institution (i.e., how many students,
etc.) Would it make sense to require a login, if it was feasible? Perhaps send the survey
announcement to a targeted group of individuals, rather than the entire mailing list.
Q: Should the survey include any required questions, which if left unanswered, would prohibit
them from continuing the survey?
A: The Group thought this might be too drastic, and would potentially discourage people
from completing the survey
The approximate time-line for the survey is as follows:
15-Feb – last call for suggestions/changes to text of draft questions
22-Feb – completed survey given to review by the Group
1-Mar – announce Guest Access Survey
30-Mar – close survey
2-20-Apr – begin analysis of survey and prepare presentation
23-25-Apr – present Guest Access Survey results at Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting
Please refer to the To Do list in the wiki (link above.)
{SteveO} said he would investigate whether conditional branching in the survey is possible.
[AI] Group will review the Guest Access Survey questions in the wiki and send feedback to the list.
FWNA – Next Gen - RADIUS/SAML Integration
{Steve C.} plans to continue working on the RADIUS/SAML document. The Group also referenced {Diego Lopez’} email (cf. 8-Feb), regarding alignment of DAMe specification with Internet2 style. Aside from the Guest Access Survey presentation, the Group will focus the Working Group time at the Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting on the RADIUS/SAML Integration document.
[AI] Group will begin a search for someone who is willing to do an implementation of the proposed RADIUS/SAML integration. [AI] Group will review John’s presentation (PPT, cf. 25-Jan) and send feedback to the list. [AI] {SteveO} will post a link in the FWNA wiki to {Steve C.’s} RADIUS/SAML draft document.
The next SALSA-NetAuth - FWNA WG call will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 11am EST.
