*Discussion*

-Upcoming Meeting – Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting-
There will be a NetAuth-FWNA Working Group Meeting at the upcoming Spring 2007 Internet2 Member Meeting on Tuesday, April 24 in Salon G: <http://events.internet2.edu/2007/spring-mm/sessionDetails.cfm?session=3220&event=267> In addition to the above meeting, {Kevin} mentioned having an informal get-together at the Member Meeting regarding the draft RADIUS-SAML proposal by {Steve C..

-SALSA-NetAuth – potential relationship with NEA-
{Michael} asked if anyone else in the Group had seen emails from Leif Johansson with respect to the NEA Working Group, TF-Mobility, and Higher Ed. {John} expressed an interest in the way that the NEA WG is approaching issues, particularly they way they get SAML attributes and assertions from single or multiple places. {Steve C.} said mobility is outside the scope of the NEA charter. Rather than focusing on federations, it is limited to enterprise systems. NEA is concentrating on utilization of EAP for machine level authentication.

{Kevin} suggested that some results of the Guest Access Survey may point to possible areas for collaboration between the FWNA and NEA Working Groups. There are still some issues which do not clearly overlap, e.g. authenticating a person versus a device. {John} talked about the various classes of users that could be authenticated when requesting access. Their rights might be different locally at an organization then they would be in a VO. {Michael} suggested the Group further examines the bounds of NEA and which aspects SALSA in interested in dealing; they should identify the relationship between the two groups and who does what. [AI] {Kevin} will follow up with {Chris} on the NEA discussion and how it relates to FWNA work.

-Guest access survey (posted)-
To date, 84 responses have been received from the Guest Access Survey, which will remain open through the following week. {Michael} passed on a recommendation from {Paul Hill} to avail the entire set of questions (perhaps via the web/wiki) before sending people to a survey. In this way, people can determine if they are capable of answering the questions in full, or if they ought to find a better qualified individual to complete the survey. Additionally, it would allow them to take notes and gather information for answers before beginning the survey, which would likely save time. [AI] {Philippe, SteveO, and Mark} will work together to close and wrap up the results of the guest access survey.

-802.1x project meeting at Member Meeting-
{Kevin} mentioned that the GUI for the 802.1x client is to be discussed at the annual Networkshop event, part of JANET: <http://www.ja.net/services/events/networkshop/networkshop-index.html>. [AI] {Kevin} will forward resulting notes of the 802.1x next steps to JANET folks.

-RADIUS/SAML-
{Kevin} suggested that the Spring Internet2 Member Meeting will be a good place to search for a person to implement what is outlined in the draft. {John} suggested that a volunteer implementer might be recruited from someone working on FreeRADIUS. {John} suggested defining a project leader to manage the translation of the draft proposal into the implementation. There may be available funding options, and it would be useful to distill the exact implementation needs into a paragraph that could then be directed at potential funding sources. [AI] {John} will draft a general intro and scope of the RADIUS/SAML work.

The next SALSA-NetAuth - FWNA WG call will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11am EST.
