*Discussion*
There will be a NetAuth/FWNA BoF on Monday from 3:00-4:30pm at the Spring 2005 Internet2 Member Meeting. One aim is to raise participation in the FWNA area, and much of the discussion will likely be devoted to FWNA technical issues <http://events.internet2.edu/2005/spring-mm/sessionDetails.cfm?session=2040&event=229>. Additionally, there will be a track session on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30pm, Activities of the SALSA NetAuth and Federated Wireless Network Authentication (FWNA) Working Groups <http://events.internet2.edu/2005/spring-mm/sessionDetails.cfm?session=1983&event=229>. [AI] {Kevin} will prepare use case slides and other material to present at the upcoming I2 Spring Member Meeting.

You can find more information about the upcoming NETWORLD-INTEROP conference at <http://www.interop.com/>.

The Group discussed the role of FWNA in commercial roaming, as the field opens to new players. {Philippe} will talk with a journalist this week regarding information on EduRoam and FWNA, as well as the upcoming I2 MM.

{Dennis} raised a concern for future discussion - is there adequate content filters for the K-12 realm? This is something that FWNA should keep in mind, as it becomes relevant.

Also as this technology is rising, {Kevin} noted how the level of service is being provided across the entire network. There may be a number of people providing that service, and how can that level of service be guaranteed? This is another large issue for FWNA to think about how to works toward integrating solutions with the demands.

The Group is still working on developing use cases that provide solid examples of where FWNA is needed, without necessarily dictating the solution. How general or specific should a use case be tailored? People are always interested in seeing real-world examples; it might be easiest to gather the general strategy from a detailed scenario. Another question is whether or not to include specific security requirements, and where to draw the line between technical and policy issues. It was agreed that it would be best to focus attention on the technical issues, saving policy issues for a later federation document. Once the Group has a few sound use cases, they will separate the unique components from the general components that are in common, and create a template for future use cases. After looking at these core elements for a particular scenario, we can decide how FWNA applies. [AI] {Kevin} will email {Dennis} with security and other requirements for preparing use cases. [AI] {Dennis} will provide further technical revisions to his use case detailing an academic guest at a member institution. The Group decided that it would be worthwhile to keep a history of revisions made to the use cases. Once the use cases are satisfactorily written, they will be posted on the <SALSA-NetAuth - FWNA> site.

In the future, the FWNA WG will need to address policy issues satisfying a diverse range of potential users, we will need to address policy issues. Conference guests at a university is one thing, however there is potential for complication at the K-12 level. There may be a need for a different set of issues for providing access, depending on the age groups targeted.

The next SALSA-NetAuth - FWNA conference call, schedule for May 5, 2005, has been cancelled due to an overlap with the Spring 2005 Internet2 Member Meeting. Therefore, the next scheduled SALSA-NetAuth - FWNA call will be on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 11am ET.
